Starting with the engine – our machines are fitted with genuine Honda engines only. We also have two Honda engine model options – GX35, or GX50, which are both 4-Stroke petrol engines.
The engine provides around 7,000 RPM, which rotates the driven gear going into the gearbox. From the gearbox, it is then converting power through to a cam and a conrod, which is making the piston to move up and down. Below the piston is an air chamber – when the piston moves down, it is sending air compression down to the top hammer. The top hammer then, in turn, strikes the bottom hammer, which is the part that hits the top of your post to get it into the ground – you will get 1720-1780 beats per minute from the hammer, depending on your Easy Petrol Post Driver model.
When you're holding your machine on top of the post to knock it in, it’s important to apply 5-10kg of downward pressure – this ensures the hammer is always in contact with top of the post, allowing the hammer to ‘bounce’ back off of the post, returning to its chamber for its next strike.
Our Easy Petrol Post Driver comes with numerous different adapter options, of all shapes and sizes. We advise of no more than 5-10mm difference between the post size and the adapter size – this ensures that it's holding the post nice and flush, so that when that hammer is striking the top of the post it's striking it centrally every time. (It's like when you whack a sledgehammer and you hit the top of your post, flush in the centre, it goes in really well. That's what we're doing, but 1700 times a minute.)
So the way that our Easy Petrol Post Driver differs from some of the other machines on the market, is the air compression chamber. A lot of the cheaper models don't have this air compression; they're a connected drive, so what you’ll get with that is a lot more wearing parts, as there's a lot more impact inside the machine body.
Replacing a connective drive mechanism for an air compression chamber also means that our Easy Petrol Post Driver is lighter in weight, and offers much lower HAVS ratings than other brands.
As we've got no connection between the posts and the engine on our machine, there is very little servicing requirements too. It simply consists of a series of O-Rings, grease and engine servicing parts. As long as your Easy Petrol Post Driver is serviced regularly (approximately once every 1-2 years, depending on usage), your machine will last indefinitely.
Our Easy Petrol Post Drivers are built to last a lifetime.
