Here's a step-by-step guide on how to complete a full service on your Easy Petrol Post Driver.
You can watch the videos below (there are separate videos for the Post Driver body, and the engine), or read the instructions in order, as you complete your machine's service.
You can use the full parts diagrams for the Post Drivers and engines on our Downloads page here.
If you need any technical assistance whilst you are completing your service, please feel free to contact us to speak to the experts in our workshop!
1) Remove the air filter cover from the engine.
2) Remove the throttle linkage by loosening the two 10 mm nuts. And disconnect the earth lead.
3) Remove the machine handles by undoing the four Allen key bolts from the crank housing.
4) Remove the crank housing from the engine by undoing the six retaining screws.
5) Remove and discard any old grease from the gears – both the engine side, and the driven gear attached to the Post Driver.
6) Remove the adapter.
Engine service steps:
7) Drain the engine oil from the filler port.
8) Remove the engine top cover by undoing the single Allen head screw.
9) Remove the spark plug using a plug spanner.
10) Remove the valve cover by undoing the two Allen key screws.
11) Turn the engine by hand to locate top dead centre (TDC).
12) Check valve clearances according to the manufacturer’s specifications. Adjust valve gaps if required and re-check.
13) Refit the valve cover.
14) Install the new spark plug and torque to specification.
15) Refit the rubber HT cap.
16) Access the fuel tank and remove the fuel filter using a hook.

18) Clean or replace the air filter, blowing debris out with an airline.
19) Refill the engine with oil to the manufacturer’s specification.
20) Refit the engine cover.
Post Driver body service steps:
21) Remove the cast bottom housing from the crank housing.
22) Use a copper or dead-blow hammer to remove the third hammer from the cast bottom housing.
23) Knock out the two retaining pins from the hammer housing using a punch.
24) Remove the two O-rings, flat washer, and hammer.
25) Remove the cover plate from the crank housing.
26) Unscrew the crank pin (left-hand thread).
27) Remove all internal components.
28) Thoroughly clean all machine assemblies.
29) Replace all internal component O-rings.
30) Reinstall all internal machine components, applying a small amount of grease to moving components
31) Apply thread-locking compound (e.g., Bondlock B243) to any threaded parts during reassembly.
32) Coat the outside of the crank with 6–8 mm of grease and reinstall the cover plate.
33) Install the damper washer into the crank housing - with the narrow face slots inside the cylinder liner.
34) Reassemble the hammer components using the new bolts supplied.
35) Align the flat faces of the third hammer with the holes in the hammer housing.
36) Tap the retaining pins into place (they only fit in one direction).
37) Reassemble the damper washer with its O-rings, ensuring the curved side faces the third hammer.
38) Carefully align the outer O-ring on the blue damper washer and reinstall the cast bottom housing.
Reassembling the Post Driver and Engine:
39) Re-grease the driven gear assembly - both the engine side, and the driven gear attached to the Post Driver.
40) Apply liquid gasket seal (e.g., Loctite B243) to the exposed face of the crank housing.
41) Reinstall the engine and clutch housing onto the crank assembly.
42) Reinstall the adapter using thread-locking compound.
43) Refit the handle assembly and engine controls.
44) Check throttle operation and refit the air filter cover.
