Over the past few months, James has been documenting him and his son, Max, busy in their workshop as they build the ultimate fencing trailer from scratch to hold all the tools they need for any fencing job, ready to hitch up as soon as they need it. We’re proud here at Easy Petrol Post Driver to have sponsored this DIY build project, and are delighted to finally see the fruits of their labour!
Their previous set up consisted of a small Nova trailer that was hitched to the back of a quad bike where everything was simply just thrown in. There was limited space for the bigger tools and things were generally unorganised. One of the biggest obstacles was being able to unroll the wires, so a big part of the plan was to build three different spinning jennys; one for the plain wire, one for the netting wire and another for the barbed wire. The new, multi-use wheeled trailer also needs to be waterproof, have ample tool storage to keep everything close at hand and somewhere for their new Classic50 model Petrol Post Driver to sit, as well as an integrated Packout system for all of the smaller tools.
By building a proper fencing trailer, not only will they be ready for any fencing job at a moment’s notice, but it’ll keep all the equipment needed, including their trusty Easy Petrol Post Driver and Tough Box, safe and secure too. What’s even more impressive is that the father-son duo has done all the work, all the designing, measuring, cutting, welding and everything in between, themselves! And as you can see from the videos, Max is already shaping up to be a master welder under dad James’ tutelage.
The new fencing trailer build has a place for everything and everything in its place. It features the previously mentioned spinning frames for the three different fencing wires with a guide, an iron bar and tamp, two shovels, a lump hammer, a heavy duty storage box for all the smaller fencing tools, and, of course, the Easy Petrol Post Driver takes pride of place, housed securely in its Tough Box.
Check out the full videos below to see how James and Max managed to pull it all off. It really is so impressive to see all the work that the both of them have put in to building their own bespoke fencing trailer, and it has most certainly paid off. Great job, guys!
