The 144th year of the Driffield Show did not disappoint. Being one of the largest agricultural shows in the country, set over only one day, the spectacle of events that occurred were astounding. With a stand for everyone, ranging from Whitby Gin to Driffield Police and Sands Agricultural Machinery to Elvington Plant Hire, this show had it all. On a beautiful summers day, the entertainment kicked off with a great display of jumping classes in the main ring before the highly-anticipated UK Fencing Championships began just moments later. Sponsored by Fencing & Landscaping News, the 10 competitors had just 4 hours to erect approximately 40 meter of high tensile stock netting. A number of businesses, including Easy Petrol Post Driver, supported the event through sponsorship which went towards the prize money for the first 3 places. There was even more action to be witnessed in the activity arena which showcased kids racing Terriers whilst in the Horticulture & Handicraft Sections people of all ages were allowing their creative side to flourish.
Heading the SPA Power Machinery stand was our market leading Easy Petrol Post Driver, boasting live demonstrations throughout the day which crowds were quick to gather for. As the timber posts were successfully driven into the hard and gravelly ground, we couldn’t help but be proud and inspired. The journey of our post driver is entering its 10th year, the time has flown yet we appreciate how we must keep spreading the word that there is an easy way. Nobly standing alongside our post driver was the majestic German engineered Westermann Agricultural Brushes, spearheading the range and catching the interest of farmers was the versatile CM2 Compact Tractor. Illustrious in design, the CM2 was showcasing the sought-after benefit of being able to simply switch between multiple attachments. Whether you required a machine to scrape food or waste in your cattle cubicle, wash poultry troughs or rip weeds out of the hard surface surrounding your sheds, the ride-on tractor is truly the jack of all trades in agricultural machinery. The highlight of the day for a high percentage of the near 40,000 footfall must have been the camel races held in the main ring, closely followed by the crowd-pleasing dog shows. The new food hall and food theatre also went down a treat as visitors were able to enjoy cooking demonstrations by the best local chefs. Not let down by the weather the show was an incredible success, celebrating the very best in British farming and food. We were delighted to be a part of this years show and plan to return next year.
