LAMMA 2020 Review

Returning to the NEC in Birmingham for a 2nd year, LAMMA yet again brought in crowds of people from all over the farming community and with 11 sold out halls overflowing with the latest cutting-edge technology, it’s not hard to see why. Showcasing everything from the JCB Fastrac and Valtra Unlimited, through to the compact Westermann Tractor, and McConnel Robocut; the 2-day event welcomed over 40,000 people through the door.

Designing your own tractor

Drawing in the crowds at one end was the coveted JCB Fastrac, which recently hit a new world record speed of 153.771mph, making it officially the world’s fastest tractor. Whilst at the other end of the show, Valtrashowed off their unlimited range; which allows you specify your own individual tractor, with the design and comfort that you require to perform in any environment.  Additionally, with the growth in the fruit farming and vineyards throughout the UK continuing to sore, the Valtra F Series has received a number of plaudits for the slim design yet powerful application.

10 Years of the Post Driver

Also, here at SPA Power Machinery, we made the decision to take our largest ever indoor stand. The thinking behind this was that both our Easy Petrol Post Driver and Westermann Weed and Moss Brushes are now established market leaders, and such bring in the crowds.

Exhibiting at LAMMA for the 7th year in a row, and celebrating our 10th year of European distribution of the Australian manufactured post driver, the machine is designed to allow one man to drive any size stake, peg or post into the ground up to a 4” diameter.

Standing proudly alongside is our new versatile range of Westermann Weed & Moss Brushes, in which the WKB660 Westermann Weed Ripper stole the show by taking Gold in the LAMMA Driven Innovation awards. The revolutionary innovation allows you to clear thick weeds, moss and debris from any surface without the use of chemicals or water. By replacing traditional methods, the machine not only allows you to be more environmentally friendly but also saves you time due to the fact your surface requires no pre or post treatment.

Agricultural Triple X Fencing

Taking Gold in the Technical Innovation award was McVeigh Parker with their Triple X Fencing system. The agricultural and commercial fencing system consists of the quick clip steel post coupled with X fence premium stiffstay wire netting, steel strainers and a choice of either barbed, line or electric wire. Thanks to easier installation with premium coating and stronger wire the product can offer up to 50% cost savings over its guaranteed 30 year life.

Turning tractors green - and we don't mean their colour

Another high-end agricultural machine that has been renowned for its contribution to a more eco-friendly way of working is the JCB Electric Mini Excavator. The new 19C-IE gives you the freedom to work all day with quick charging and long battery life. With zero emissions and an uncompromised performance, it’s not surprise the first machine in the JCB E-TEC range stands proudly in the fight of climate change.  In a review that only scratches the surface of the show, it’s worth noting many of the other stand out brands to exhibit. McConnel showcased their comprehensive range, including remote control technology such as the Robocut RC28. Whilst Manitou displayed their distinguished loaders and telehandlers.  Throughout the 11 halls there were literally hundreds of exhibitors with thousands of visitors, all from within the farming community and all there to discover how to drive their business, and the industry, forward. Looking towards 2021, it would be no surprise to witness another year of growth for one of the leading agricultural and machinery equipment shows within the UK. Make sure you are a part of it all next year, however, be sure to do your research on who you’d like to visit before stepping foot in the halls – it’s very easy to become distracted by the big trailers, cultivators and tractors.
