Executive Hire Show Review

Executive Hire Show is a little different to our usual exhibitions, in such that it is a trade only event solely for the Hire industry of Tools, Plant and Equipment. So with that in mind the machines on display are all the most suitable for the industry... ”Built for Hire” you might say! With this in mind we displayed our best products for the industry:

Easy Petrol Post Driver – Multi Kit UKB

Multi UK B post driver set

The most versatile adapter set for the EPPD is the UKB Multi, which includes adapters in sizes 107mm, 78mm, and 52mm. This offers the broadest range of adapters suitable for most post driving jobs. If you have customers with other requirements the rest of the adapters in the range are interchangeable with the UKB Multi.

Westermann Moss Brush – WR870 with Honda GXV

WR870 clearing moss from paving

Moss removal from all hard surfaces is a lot faster than power washing with the German made Westermanns. The GXV engine is essential for the hire industry offering professional grade filters, steel cylinder liner, larger fuel tank, and 3-year commercial warranty.

Westermann Weed Ripper – WKB660 with Honda GXV

WKB660 clearing weeds from wall bottom

Also armed with the GXV engine as standard, the Weed Ripper tackles nasty overgrowth on all hard surfaces. Due to the 12 individual bristles it also removes debris from uneven ground such as cobbles and crazy paving.

Westermann CM2 Pro Ride-On – with R1000 Wire Brush and WKB550 Weed Ripper

CM2 Pro clearing moss and weeds

When the job is too large for a pedestrian machine the Ride-On comes into play. This version features the Briggs & Stratton Vanguard 16hp engine, plenty of power for the task at hand. On display were the 2 attachments for hard surface cleaning; the R1000 sweeps and removes all moss and most weeds; the WKB550 tackles the thick weeds and overgrowth and features an articulated arm to get right into the edges and corners.

What else was on offer?

The show has always been good for finding new products, everybody wants something new and niche, something that you can’t find in every hire store in town. We didn’t have long to wander round as our stand was a bit busy, but we did get to speak to a few other stands and find out a little more about their products. Slanetrac and their UK dealers Coppards were as busy as ever; their Diesel HighTip Dumper is arguably the best on the market. Manufactured entirely in Ireland this machine is the best of the best for the hire market. It holds a full Tonne and is only 750mm wide, meaning it fits through doorways and the tightest of spaces. A must for contractors in any confined sites, or otherwise. Tufftruk had some new products in their range this year, including their electric mini dumper, a “Greedy board” to fill your skip fuller safely, and a tow-ball. They are also working in collaboration with their European importers to sell their Conveyor Belt as part of the range, offering an entire muck removal solution. Battery power is stronger than ever on the Makita stand. New products included a SDS rotary demolition hammer, an angle grinder, as well as the obligatory improvements in the coffee machine and heated jackets-becoming a site must in cold conditions! Altrad Belle were also out in force. Always a firm favourite of the hire stores, their mixers are an absolute staple for any hire shop. They reported to have sold all product from their stand on the show, a great day for any trader.

New layout for EHS 2020

The show itself has undergone a bit of a re-design. The stands were all on the same floor again which was an improvement we thought, and with the Theatre being moved to the Annex it gave the stands within that area more footfall than usual. The most notable change we as exhibitors have noticed is the increase in attendance from small independent hire stores over the past few years. It is hard for these stores to compete against the household names sometimes, so it is encouraging to see these stores coming out from the shadows.  Simon Anthony and Laurie Anthony I had a conversation on the day with one of the organisers which is echoed in this statement from Craig Donovan, Show Director who said “86% of all relevant hire industry visitors were from independent operations, re-confirming the pivotal role of local and regional hirers in the on-going success of the Show. This also demonstrates the Show’s continued ability to attract relevant, quality hire executives.” We would certainly agree with this, and are thrilled that we have now supplied to a good number of new independent hire stores. Thank you to the organisers and everybody who came to our stand. We look forwards to attending Executive Hire Show in 2021. www.executivehireshow.co.uk
