    Size

    The 4″ (107mm) Adapter has an internal diameter of 107mm. This adapter is suitable for driving posts between 90mm – 100mm diameter.

    To drive in 4" posts, a pilot hole must be made in the ground first. A 2" pilot hole is the recommended size. If the ground is very hard or dry, fill the pilot hole with water and leave to soak before driving the posts into the ground.

    Our Pilot Core Tool can be used to make a pilot hole, or alternatively an Earth Auger.

    What adapter(s) do I need?

    To get the most effective use from the Post Driver, the Adapter size must be a snug fit for your Posts. We recommend the Adapter must be no more than 5-10mm larger than your Post. For shaped posts (squares, t-shapes, etc), the outer corners need to be within this capacity.

    What is the maximum ability of the machine?

    The maximum size post that can be driven in is 4” (100mm) diameter. Our largest adapter is 107mm internal diameter. When the ground is very dry, compacted or stony, you will need to make a pilot hole for posts larger than 78mm. This can be either by hand using a Pilot Bar, or mechanically using our Pilot Core Tool add-on. Posts smaller than 78mm should not need a pilot hole. Ground conditions of clay or chalk may also require a pilot hole.

    Easy Fitting

    Use a 6mm hex key to unscrew the 8 bolts and locking washers (or 2 bolts and washers on the Max107). Slide the current Adapter off the base of the Post Driver. Slide the new Adapter into its place and attach using the same bolts and washers. Remember to use a Locking Compound on the screw threads to stop them vibrating out.
